Who We Are

For almost 50 years, Sojourner House has been helping victims of abuse from throughout Rhode Island to find safety, overcome trauma, and work toward wellbeing for themselves and their children. We offer a continuum of shelter and housing programs along with trauma-informed supportive services including a 24/7 helpline, free counseling, legal access and support, financial education, and programs for children. We are also one of the few domestic violence organizations in the country to be developing affordable housing units for victims of abuse. We work towards systems-level change by educating the community about healthy relationships, the dynamics of abuse, and how to best support victims. Sojourner House provides trauma-informed services that disrupt the cycles of abuse and instability that victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking often face. These services empower victims to pursue their own journeys to physical, emotional, and financial health.

What We Do

The mission of Sojourner House is to promote healthy relationships by providing culturally sensitive support, advocacy, housing, and education for victims and survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking; and to effect systems change.
