Communications Internship

Description


The Communications Intern will support the League's communications, advocacy, and public engagement efforts. The intern will help tell and amplify the stories of Rhode Island's charter public schools through social media, digital content, graphic design, writing, photography, and video. 


The Communications Intern may:

  • Draft and schedule social media content across multiple platforms.

  • Create graphics using Canva.

  • Write stories highlighting student, educator, and school accomplishments.

  • Assist with newsletters, blog posts, website updates, and email communications.

  • Photograph and record video at school visits, events, and advocacy activities.

  • Edit short-form videos and reels for social media.

  • Monitor media coverage and compile news clips.

  • Conduct research to support communications campaigns and legislative advocacy.

  • Support member schools by co-facilitating training, conducting website audits, and gathering success stories, photos, and other communications materials.

  • Complete other communications and administrative projects as assigned.

Desired Qualifications

We're looking for someone who is:

  • Pursuing a degree in communications, journalism, marketing, public relations, education, graphic design, or a related field.

  • A proactive communicator who asks thoughtful questions, seeks feedback, and keeps team members informed. 

  • Comfortable working remotely while collaborating effectively with a small, mission-driven team.

  • An excellent writer with strong attention to detail.

  • Creative and comfortable generating ideas for digital content.

  • Organized and able to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

  • Familiar with one or more of the following: Canva, WordPress, MailChimp, Google Workspace, YouTube, Tiktok.
