Bay View is an independent, Catholic, college preparatory school for girls
serving students from Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 12 in Riverside, Rhode Island.
Founded in 1874 by the Sisters of Mercy, Bay View is rooted in a mission to
educate young women to be intellectually curious, spiritually grounded, and
socially responsible leaders. The school serves 375 students on a unified
campus and is known for its Mercy values, all-girls environment, close-knit
community, and commitment to educating the whole child.
Position Overview. St. Mary Academy - Bay View seeks a strategic,
mission-driven Vice President of Finance & Operations, a senior
leadership role that serves as the school’s chief financial and operating
officer and a key partner to the President. This role leads the school’s
financial strategy and oversees key operational areas including finance, human resources,
facilities, and technology. The Vice President will work closely with the President,
senior leadership team, and Board of Trustees to align resources with institutional
priorities, strengthen systems, support enrollment growth, and ensure Bay View’s
long-term financial sustainability and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all Business Office functions including budgeting, accounting, financial reporting, and financial aid
- Develop and implement long-range financial strategies aligned with institutional priorities
- Oversee human resources, facilities, technology, vendor relationships, contracts, and risk management
- Partner with senior leadership to support enrollment growth, program planning, and operational effectiveness
- Lead the annual audit process and manage relationships with auditors and financial institutions
- Monitor financial performance and provide clear, data-informed insights for decision-making
- Serve as liaison to Board committees and support effective governance processes
Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will:
- Have strong financial expertise, with a CPA and/or master’s degree in finance, business administration, or a related field preferred
- Bring at least five years of progressive financial leadership experience, ideally in schools or nonprofits
- Demonstrate the ability to translate complex financial information into clear and actionable insights
- Balance strategic thinking with hands-on operational leadership across multiple functional areas
- Build relationships rooted in trust, transparency, collaboration, and sound judgment
- Model integrity, creativity, and a mission-aligned commitment to Bay View’s long-term vitality
