The position will work in the Executive Office of Housing, Office of Community Programs & Municipal Engagement, under the supervision of the Chief of Municipal Planning and Programming and the leadership of the Director of the Office of Community Programs & Evaluation and the Secretary of Housing.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Review housing-related components of the local Comprehensive Plans for consistency with the State Housing Plan (Housing 2030).
• Manage various programs/initiatives providing technical assistance and resources to communities in meeting their housing goals. Examples of such initiatives include Municipal Fellows Program, Housing Forward, Pathways to Removing Obstacles to Housing (PRO Housing), Visualizations, Municipal Technical Assistance Program (MTAP), Infrastructure and other housing/community development programs.
• Assist in coordination with other State agencies, Public Housing Authorities, non-profits, RI League of Cities and Town and other relevant organizations, to further the Executive Office of Housing’s goals and policies.
• Coordinate the Executive Office’s role with regard to Letters of Eligibility related to Low/Moderate Income Housing and other processes related to housing.
• Serve as a municipal liaison on behalf of the Executive Office of Housing, as deemed appropriate.
Education/Experience:
The following education and/or experience is preferred:
• Experience working in or with Rhode Island municipal staff and/or leadership.
• Experience working with State and/or federal laws, regulations, State Guide Plan and programs.
• Education/experience in the field of planning, housing/community development and/or public administration/policy.
• Experience working with GIS and database systems.
• Understanding of zoning, land use and comprehensive planning.
• Understanding of development plan review and permitted processes in Rhode Island.
