Description

The Workers Compensation and Disability Associate supports the injury and disability needs of all Providence Public Schools staff. This role serves as a liaison with legal and medical offices and processes all workers’ compensation and long-term disability matters. The associate ensures that cases are handled accurately, in compliance with regulations, and in a timely manner. Work is assigned with clear instructions and is reviewed by the supervisor for completeness and accuracy.

Dept: Office of Human Resources.
Hours: 8:30 A.M. - 4:30 P.M.

Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED required; College degree preferred.
  • Valid adjuster license preferred.
  • 1+ year of high-volume HR experience.
  • Experience with DLT reporting platform and reviewing medical reports.
  • Knowledge of workers’ compensation law and procedures.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; typing and phone skills required.
  • Medical coding experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with HR databases (Lawson, Frontline)preferred.
  • Bilingual preferred.

Responsibilities:

Processing, Compliance, and Support:
  • Review and analyze workers’ compensation cases.
  • Communicate with employees, doctors, and attorneys.
  • Serve as liaison with legal counsel and PPSD attorney.
  • Prepare and file legal documents with the Department of Labor and Training.
  • Maintain accurate logs of cases, claims, and disability forms.
  • Manage correspondence, deadlines, and compliance timelines.

Analysis, Payment, and Compliance:
  • Coordinate medical treatment and process payments.
  • Review medical reports for discrepancies.
  • Ensure billing compliance with WC fee schedules.
  • Code and process medical bills.
  • Schedule and prepare for independent medical exams (IMEs).
  • Update vendor records in Lawson.
  • Track litigation, settlements, and compliance deadlines.
