Job Description Long-standing preschool is seeking an experienced early childhood educator who can passionately support children’s play, inquiry, creativity, and critical thinking for a teaching position, as Lead Teacher. Our school is a small, private, non-profit offering a morning program (with extended day) in East Providence, RI. We are an intentional community of dedicated teachers and families committed to a Reggio-inspired approach to teaching and learning. Strong candidates will have the following personal and professional attributes: A dynamic educator who has a passion for engaging young hearts and minds through an emergent curriculum 2+ years teaching in an early childhood setting Familiarity with the Reggio Emilia philosophy The ability to provide a variety of learning opportunities, methods, and materials, which support the diversity of abilities within the classroom A deep understanding of early childhood development Practices thoughtful, respectful, and effective classroom management techniques Works collaboratively with faculty and communicates clearly with parents Bachelor’s degree with RI teaching certification Some of the responsibilities of this position include: Lead Teacher is part of a teaching team responsible for a daily group of 18 children ages: 3-5 year olds. Leading group times, setting up inviting activities that are inspired by our philosophy, creating an environment that promotes a love of learning and cognitive growth, and facilitates social development. Additional features of the position: Children are in school until either noon or 2 pm, if they stay for the extended day. This gives our teachers plenty of time to prepare for the next day and recharge their batteries! Our program operates on a school year schedule: Late August through the end of June which includes a 3-week summer camp. School is closed for July and August. ~ 4 weeks off during the school year.
