RIPIN

Who We Are

RIPIN offers programming serving the whole lifespan, and many programs are open to any Rhode Island resident who needs support. We are peer professionals on a mission to help Rhode Islanders of all abilities, ages, and backgrounds get the support they need to thrive.

What We Do

RIPIN is a 501(c)(3), charitable, nonprofit organization established in 1991 by a passionate group of parents of children with special needs. These parents recognized that together they could provide support through sharing essential information and helping to find the resources they needed for their loved ones. This peer model continues to be at the heart of our work and has led RIPIN’s network to expand statewide. Now, RIPIN stands alongside vulnerable families navigating our state’s complex systems of care, including education, healthcare, and healthy aging. RIPIN remains peer-led, which means that a majority of our Board and staff are still parents of children with disabilities. Drawing from their own lived experience, our peer professionals provide guidance and resources throughout the journey of navigating systems of care in our state.
