We currently work with 70 medical practices throughout RI and serve nearly 70% of children ages 5 and under. We fundraise to be able to train and support medical sites and provide new, developmentally and culturally appropriate books to medical providers to use during their well-visits for children ages birth through 5 for the families to then take home. Last year, we gave out over 100,000 books at no cost to the families or medical sites.
What We Do
Reach Out and Read RI (RORRI) is a local non-profit that sets children on a path for success by partnering with pediatricians to encourage families to read aloud together every day starting at birth. Reading together helps build strong relationships and promotes healthy brain development and early language skills. The Reach Out and Read model is evidence-based and has been used in RI for over 25 years. We are proud to be the only national literacy model endorsed by the American Academy of Pediatrics.
