St. Mary Academy – Bay View is seeking a caring, energetic, and dependable individual to serve as an Extended Day Assistant for our PreK–Grade 5 Extended Day Program during the 2026–2027 school year. Our Extended Day Program is designed to provide students with a welcoming environment where they can transition from the structure of the academic day to an afternoon that balances relaxation, creativity, play, and enrichment. The program intentionally combines structured activities with opportunities for independent choice and free play, allowing students to unwind while continuing to learn, explore, and build relationships.

Position Details:
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 1:30 p.m.–5:30 p.m. (20 hours per week)
- Compensation: $18/hour
- Student Program Hours: 2:30 p.m.–5:30 p.m.
- Reports To: Extended Day Program Coordinator
Key Responsibilities:
Program Support
- Assist in planning, preparing, and facilitating engaging daily activities, games, crafts, and enrichment experiences.
- Lead small-group activities as assigned by the Extended Day Coordinator.
- Encourage student participation while balancing structured programming with opportunities for free choice and play.
- Prepare, organize, and care for program materials and supplies.
Operations & Communication
- Maintain attendance records and ensure students are dismissed only to authorized adults according to school procedures.
- Communicate student concerns, behavioral issues, accidents, or noteworthy successes to the Extended Day Coordinator.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming program environment before, during, and after each session.
- Assist with snack distribution and ensure adherence to food allergy and health protocols.
Teamwork
- Provide guidance and mentorship to Upper School student volunteers working in the program.
- Collaborate effectively with the Extended Day Coordinator and fellow staff to ensure smooth daily operations.
- Demonstrate flexibility by assisting with changing student needs, schedules, and program activities.
Professional Responsibilities
- Model Bay View's Mercy values through interactions with students, families, colleagues, and volunteers.
- Follow all school policies and procedures, including those related to child safety, confidentiality, and emergency response.
- Attend required meetings, orientations, and professional development sessions, as appropriate.
- Perform other duties related to the successful operation of the Extended Day Program as assigned.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 3 years of experience working with children is preferred.
- Previous experience in the leading camps, programs, or instruction of various ages and abilities preferred.
- Associates Degree preferred.
