The Met is seeking a volunteer coach for our Ethics Bowl team, part of the National High School Ethics Bowl (NHSEB) program. Ethics Bowl is a competitive yet collaborative event where students discuss real-life ethical dilemmas — not by debating assigned sides, but by defending the positions they genuinely hold, responding thoughtfully to judges and opposing teams, and engaging with rigor and respect. The program builds students' critical thinking, civil discourse, and ability to reason through complex moral questions together. The Met has a strong Ethics Bowl tradition, having won the state championship twice and placed second twice over the past six years. The previous coach remains at the school and is available to provide ample support throughout the season — from case preparation to competition logistics — making this a great opportunity for someone new to the program. No prior Ethics Bowl experience is required, just an interest in ethics, discussion, and mentoring students through thoughtful, structured debate. Sessions would be weekly, 60-90 minutes, on a Monday sometime between 10am - 3pm (whatever works for the volunteer coach schedule).
