The Museum of Work & Culture seeks an enthusiastic, detail-oriented college student for its paid Richard and Lyse-Anne Lepine Internship.

The Lepine intern will work at the Museum 21 hours a week from June until early September (dates to be determined) under the instruction of the Museum’s staff. This internship is meant to introduce undergraduate students to the museum field by providing them with opportunities to work across different departments and apply their academic skills to numerous types of public-facing museum projects, including exhibit, educational, and programmatic projects. This 13-week internship pays $18/hour.

Duties for this internship include, but are not limited to, the following:

●     Conducting research for changing exhibitions, with a specific focus on developing traveling exhibitions.

●     Creating interactive educational presentations to supplement museum tours.

●     Assisting with the installation and deinstallation of exhibitions as needed.

●     Assisting with summer program daily activities and field trips.

●     Assisting staff lead museum tours, including the Museum’s outdoor tour.

●     Assisting with front desk duties.

●     Other duties as assigned

Requirements for this position are as follows:

●     Must be a college or university student, resident of Rhode Island or enrolled in a college or University in Rhode Island.

●     History major/minor or focus in a similar field.

●     Strong research and writing skills, particularly as these skills relate to exhibits.

●     Ability to work in a small team, as well as take initiative and work independently.

●     Ease with Office Suite applications, including Google Workspace and Microsoft Office.

●     Familiarity and interest in working with or volunteering at museums or related spaces.

●     Interest in American history, immigration history, labor history, and urban studies a plus.

●     Graphic design experience is a plus.

●     Fluency in French and/or Spanish is a plus.

Join us for the 2026 Rhode Island Parkinson’s Community Walk, a community-driven event bringing together people with Parkinson’s, their families, care partners, friends, students, and supporters for a morning of movement, connection, and community.

Brown students are invited to join us on Sunday, September 13 at the Pete Sepe Pavilion in Warren, Rhode Island. Come walk with us, meet members of the local Parkinson’s community, learn more about Parkinson’s disease and available resources, and help us show support for Rhode Islanders affected by Parkinson’s.

Registration begins at 9:00 AM, followed by a group warm-up at 10:00 AM and the walk at 10:15 AM. The event is free to attend.

Beyond U is seeking a Brown University volunteer to serve as the lead instructor for Civics in Action, an after-school program focused on student advocacy, civic engagement, and helping middle school students understand how they can take an active role in government and their communities. The instructor will lead engaging, age-appropriate activities that introduce students to government, public policy, community issues, leadership, and effective advocacy while supporting students in identifying issues they care about and developing their own voices. The Rotch-Jones-Duff House & Garden Museum (RJD) seeks a seasonal part-time seasonal Visitor Services & Events Assistant (VSEA) to help brand the RJD as an accessible and welcoming site to visit, learn and socialize at by serving as a front desk greeter and contact for private functions.

The RJD Visitor Services & Events Assistant (VSEA) helps brand the RJD as an accessible  and welcoming site to visit, learn and socialize at by serving as a front desk greeter and  support staff  for private functions. The VSEA is the primary staff required to work on site  at the museum on weekends and during scheduled and assigned events, opening and securely  closing the museum at each shift. As an assistant in Visitor Services, they are responsible for  greeting and orientating all guests, and running sales for admission and the shop. As an  assistant in events, they are part of a team that helps brand the mansion and garden as spaces  for private functions, generating earned income that supports the preservation of RJD’s site  and educational programming. In the absence of the Functions and Sales Coordinator (FSC),  they serve as the point person during assigned private events, such as corporate meetings,  weddings and family parties. They work closely with other VSEA staff and the FSC on rental  events. They report to the Functions & Sales Coordinator.

The successful candidate will be personable, highly organized and efficient, and above all, trustworthy and reliable. Excellent communication skills (verbal, written), familiarity with the local area and communities, and interest in working in hospitality and event coordination is preferred. Proficiency with Google Suite is strongly recommended.

The schedule for this position varies greatly based on the season and demand for events. The VSEA may work anywhere from zero hours to 25 hours weekly at the height of the summer rental and tourist season. Weekend availability is required for this position, and the job is seasonal, from approximately May 1 to October 31. Get on a Boat during a WaterFire lighting to feed the flames!

You will receive a safety speech from the Captain/First Mate/ to start. From there, you are a part of the lighting procession. Every 20-ish minutes, you will ceremonially place logs onto braziers to rekindle fires, reload firewood into the boat, and work with fellow crew members to uphold the artistic integrity of the installation. This is a performance, symbolizing the effect and influence of a community when individuals work together!!!

NOTE: You will be very close to the fires to gently place the logs into the brazier so they continue to burn throughout the evening.

Cultural Survival is an Indigenous-led nonprofit organization based in Cambridge, MA that advocates for Indigenous Peoples' rights and supports Indigenous communities’ self-determination, cultures, and political resilience. For 52 years, Cultural Survival has partnered with Indigenous communities to advance Indigenous Peoples' rights and cultures worldwide. We envision a future that respects and honors Indigenous Peoples' inherent rights and dynamic cultures, deeply and richly interwoven in lands, languages, spiritual traditions, and artistic expression, rooted in self-determination and self-governance.

The Cultural Survival Bazaars, which began in 1975, are a series of cultural festivals in the Boston area that provide Indigenous entrepreneurs from around the world the chance to sell their work directly to residents of New England. Each event features crafts, artwork, clothing, jewelry, home goods, and accessories from traditional cultures across dozens of countries. In addition, the Bazaars offer cultural performances and presentations, including live music, storytelling, craft-making demonstrations, and the unique chance to talk directly with Indigenous artists and community advocates. Our Bazaars support Indigenous entrepreneurs in sharing and maintaining tradition and culture through crafts, while preserving control of their intellectual property and supporting their participation in economic development strategies as found in the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.

Our Bazaars offer a unique opportunity for cultural exchange and relationship building between and among Indigenous artists, entrepreneurs and customers. We engage over 10,000 people who attend our Bazaars annually, who come to the Bazaar to experience the direct supply chain from artist to consumer and learn the unique history and story of the person selling the products.

AMP’d is an 8-week afterschool music program presented by RIOT in partnership with Providence Student Union. Designed for high school youth, AMP’d blends instrument instruction, songwriting, recording, and identity-affirming workshops to help students explore music as a tool for empowerment, creative expression, and community-building. The program centers accessibility, experimentation, and youth voice—offering multiple entry points for students of all experience levels.

POSITION OVERVIEW

RIOT is seeking a part-time contracted Head Teaching Artist to lead and coordinate AMP’d, blending lead instruction, curriculum development, and program coordination to support high school youth in exploring music as a tool for empowerment, identity, and creative expression. 

The Head Teaching Artist will guide weekly workshops, facilitate open studio sessions, coordinate with additional teaching artists to deliver consistent, youth-centered instruction, support youth-led music creation, and oversee logistics for a culminating community showcase. This position is ideal for a musician-educator committed to anti-oppressive practice, youth empowerment, and community-centered arts education.

The Head Teaching Artist will report directly to the RIOT Board of Directors.

There are 3,500 cemeteries in RI and many of them need raking, pruning and general maintenance.  I can find a cemetery near your home.

 Brayton Cemetery is a 7 acre Cemetery located in the City of Warwick, the village of AApponaug.  We will be raking, trimming bushes, and pulling weeds. Please bring a rake, clippers, and gloves.

Maintenance Volunteers help us with general maintenance work at the House. Our volunteers assist with general repairs, painting, plumbing, yard work, etc. This is a flexible volunteer position - with most volunteers scheduled mornings on weekdays. We ask for a one year commitment from all volunteers.

One of the services that the Ronald McDonald House Charities of New England - Providence provides to families of hospitalized children is a hot evening meal 365 days a year. We are looking for volunteers to purchase and prepare healthy, nutritious meals at our facility for the families staying at the house.  Volunteers prepare meals for 28-30 people, all food is purchased by the volunteers and prepared at our facility to be served at 5 PM daily. This volunteer opportunity is great for small groups and families wanting to give back.

We are seeking compassionate adults willing to share time with our hospice patients and their caregivers. Hospice volunteers complete a comprehensive training on end of life issues, bereavement care, communicating with compassion, confidentiality and interdisciplinary care teams.

Volunteers with special talents in sharing music, expressive arts, Reiki sessions or pet therapy are welcome.

Grant writer and researcher for assist with finding and writing grants for our basic human needs and education programs, as well as our operating.  Strong written and verbal communication skills a must.  Successful experience in grant writing and reporting is a plus.  

A help line where residents of Rhode Island seeking basic human needs assistance such as food, clothing, heat, rent, etc. call to be referred to the SVDP conference that takes care of their location.  Volunteer/s needed to staff the phone during office hours Monday through Friday.  Shifts can be 8 hour shifts from 8:30a.m. to 4:30p.m. or 4 hour shifts (8:30a.m. to 12:30p.m. or 12:30p.m. to 4:30p.m.).  Responsibilities would include answering the phone, referring individuals to the appropriate location for assistance, and taking a brief intake on a computer, etc.  Training will be provided.  Must be able to climb stairs.

Docents are needed to conduct tours for the public of Smith's Castle, a structure built in 1678.  Greeters are needed to staff the main meeting room where tour-goers assemble and accept payments.  Training and costuming provided.  If interested, docents can also participate in youth education programming both on premises as well as in schools.  Background checks are required.

Time commitment:  two 4-hour shifts (noon to 4 p.m.)  per month from May through mid-October.  

Must have ability to climb stairs.

Judy's Kindness Kitchen is a weekly soup kitchen run completely by volunteers.

We are preparing food and dropping the food off at Crossroads and Emanuel House.  

Food preparation is on SUNDAY, from 8:00 a.m. to 9:45 am at the Jewish Community Center, 401 Elmgrove Avenue.  Please park and enter at the rear of the building

The Empowerment Factory will be doing Family Art and Literacy Nights at a variety of Pawtucket elementary schools. Team members need to be at the location by 5pm to set up. This event will have music, food and other fun activities.

Volunteers will be needed before and after the event to help set up tables, food, and put out supplies, and then to break everything down and pack up.

During the event, volunteers will be needed to assist with the various children’s art activities. Volunteers will also be needed to assist at our information table, where families will stop to learn more about The Empowerment Factory, enter a drawing, and get supplies.

CASA volunteer child advocates needed!

You can make a life-changing difference for an abused or neglected child!  The RI Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children program (CASA) is constantly seeking volunteers who can give 8 - 10 hours a month to provide a voice for children in DCYF care who are also represented by the CASA program.  Due to COVID-19, we are not running our usual schedule of in person trainings, we are considering dates for future trainings at this time.  Safety considerations are always paramount.  

CASA advocates within the court system for children who, through no fault of their own, find themselves involved with the Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) and the Family Court.   CASA works on behalf of children's best interests, to prevent them from falling through the cracks of the child welfare system that was put in place to help them.  Our volunteers are the eyes and ears of the court, visiting with children, reporting on their well-being, and ensuring that they receive necessary services.

Volunteers must complete background checks and a personal interview, in addition to the 30-hour training program. After training, volunteers are sworn in by the Court and work with CASA attorneys for the duration of their selected case.  Our volunteers play a unique role in a child's life, often becoming the only consistent adult in a child's life while their case is open in Family Court.

We are looking for a volunteer weekly landscaper.  Mow and weedwack lawn.  Lawn mowing takes approximately 1.5-2 hours and weed wacking takes 4 hours.

Clean stalls, sweep barn, set up night feed and water. clean horse paddocks and refill horse water troughs.

help finish clearing acre of land to build our indoor riding arena.  We have several large trees that need cutting down.  We also have some smaller trees left. 

Brush can be burned on burning days so do not need to remove that.

All wood can be taken for firewood or what ever you can use it for.

We have two new percheron horses that are 13 and 6yrs of age that we rescued.  They are very green.  Their feet were in terrible condition and we are working on getting them healthy again.  In the mean time we need to start a regular training program for them to be broke to ride.

We are looking for 2-3 days a week for them to be worked for 1.5-2hrs

Help us with our fundraising initiatives.  Everything we do for our service members, veterans and their families we do for free so we have to find ways to raise funds to pay for these services.  We have events, merchandise, apply for grants, etc.

APRI is looking for part-time front desk and administrative support at its main office location in Providence. Duties include answering phones, assisting with office tasks, and helping greet clients who are arriving for appointments or for HIV testing, as well as other special projects.
